Mayor Greg Ballard graced the hallways of Cardinal Ritter Jr./Senior High School on Thursday, February 19. His journey first began by meeting with school leadership which included the executive student council. It was here that Ballard learned about our dedication to service and our continuing effort to revitalize Ritter’s surrounding area – Rittertown. The Mayor also recognized Cardinal Ritter’s effort in becoming a more green school, reducing our carbon footprint by beginning to introduce 21 st Century classrooms and websites such as e-locker. Mayor Ballard then was taken on a short tour of the school which highlighted the ongoing construction as well as the 21 st Century Classroom. Mayor Greg Ballard’s time at Cardinal Ritter was brought to a close when he answered questions from Cardinal Ritter students. Mr. Cavanaugh’s AP US History class supplied the Mayor with many interesting questions that ranged in topics from funding for the arts to the timeliness of road construction. Lastly, Zach Groth was honored as an Outstanding Student by the Mayor. Zach’s leadership in Service Learning outside of the classroom as well as his leadership inside of the classroom was noted by Mayor Ballard. It was a pleasure to have Mayor Ballard tour Cardinal Ritter High School and recognize the great tasks that our teachers and students are accomplishing daily.
