The Cardinal Ritter Speech and Theatre Department students learn to do it all! From building sets, planning choreography for stage, to directing classroom Readers Theatres, or perfecting a senior presentation, the CRHS speech/theatre ensemble experiences a wide variety of responsibilities.
While designing, mounting, and preparing scripts for four major school productions, the classes also plan and construct costumes, dance, masks, music and more beginning with the competitive speech team and popular Christmas assembly. Then, while continuing with the speech season, it’s on to the school musical which is an exciting murder mystery presented dinner-theatre style. With this project, not only do the students experience the usual demands of play production, but they join forces with student musicians and conductors.
Spring brings about two major performances for the community, one in the form of the worship service, Stations of the Cross, and finally a comedy/variety presentation. All projects are supported and produced by the speech and theatre students, but are open for participation by all Cardinal Ritter High School students.
