Senior Alma Torres was one of six high school students to participate as a “Collaborator” during the second of eight State Board of Education’s Graduation Pathways Panel meetings on August 22, 2017. Alma is a High Honor Roll student and will be the first in her family to attend college after high school. She is interested in studying accounting. The Panel is charged with developing a pathway beyond Indiana’s current Graduation Qualifying Exams so that more Hoosier students will be able to demonstrate that they have mastered required State of Indiana learning standards. The Panel is chaired by Dr. Byron Ernest, a member of the State Board of Education, and includes diverse membership from throughout the State of Indiana, including Dr. Jennifer McCormick, Superintendent of Public Instruction, Representative Robert Behning, Chair of the House Education Committee, Senator Dennis Kruse, Chair of the Senate Education and Career Development Committee, and John Elcesser, Executive Director of the Indiana Non-Public Education Association.
