The Joseph Sweeney Memorial Scholarship has been established to celebrate Joseph’s uniquely combined gifts of academic achievement, work ethic, humble helpful character, and strong Catholic faith. This scholarship will be awarded annually to a rising senior and applied toward the student’s tuition during their senior year.

Applicants nominated by a faculty or staff member for this award should meet the following selection criteria:

Student must be in grade 11.
Demonstrated achievement of excellence and aptitude in math and science.
Participation in extracurricular and formative activities at Cardinal Ritter and in the community
Character that can be best described as that of a humble servant leader.
Recognized as one who lives their faith and embraces the values of the Cardinal Ritter Catholic community.

Selection will be made by a committee of Joseph’s family, a Cardinal Ritter classmate representing the Class of 2013, a faculty member, and the principal.

Please submit nominations for 2025 by April 7th to Mrs. Hoy.
